Jacques Rancière

JACQUES RANCIÈRE (b. 1940 in Algiers) is one of most important figures of contemporary French philosophy. He is an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy at the University of Paris VIII. His many books include The Nights of LaborThe Ignorant SchoolmasterThe Philosopher and his Poor, On the Shores of PoliticsShort Voyages to the Land of the People, and The Future of the Image.  Slavoj Žižek has written that "Rancière’s writings offer one of the few consistent conceptualizations of how we are to continue to resist."
